Obituary for Mrs. Anne Waruk (Marak)

Mrs. Anne Waruk (Marak)
ANNE WARUK

It is with great sadness that we announce the sudden passing of Mrs. Anne Waruk (nee Marak), aged 94, on Saturday, July 21, 2018 at TBRHSC.

Anne was born on Christmas Day, 1923 in Port Arthur, Ontario. Anne worked at Westmount Hospital for many years. She met and married Nick Waruk, and they had 4 children – Joyce, Germaine, Shirley and Brent. After Nick’s passing in 1970, she was fortunate to meet her long-time companion, John Seswick. They enjoyed going for long drives and appreciated the peace of country living until John’s passing in 2006. Anne had a profound love for animals, especially her dogs Toga, Bambi, Buffy and Buddy. She was dedicated to her faith and religious beliefs.

In November 2016, Anne was fortunate to be honoured as the matriarch of a 5th generation celebration. The event was a testament to Anne’s long life and love of family.

Anne is survived and will be greatly missed by her daughters Joyce O’Shaughnessy, Germaine Carter, Shirley Stankey, and her son Brent Waruk (Mavis); grandchildren Terry (Janet), Chris (Cherisse), Susie (John), Sadie (Ron), Charmaine, Ryan, Lyle, Darryl (Kathy), Kathi, Shawn; great- grandchildren Sherry (Carmen), Ashley, Brittany, Connor, Ciaran, Dakotah, Katrina, Briley and great-great-grandchildren Luca and Alia.

She was predeceased by her beloved parents Alexander and Katrina Marak; sisters Antonia (Teenie) Harlass, Caroline (Carrie) Remillard, Olga Skirten and Mary Oliver; husband Nick Waruk and long-time companion John Seswick.

A private family service was held on Friday, July 27th in the WESTFORT CHAPEL, 420 West Gore Street. Interment took place in St. Andrew’s Cemetery. Should friends so desire, donations made in memory of Anne to the Thunder Bay and District Humane Society would be greatly appreciated.
