My friendship with Sal since 2007 has given me great insight into the wonderful people who have raised him - kind, caring, open, and gracious.

I had a brief encounter with Giuseppe in the summer of 2012, when he and Carpinella let my my friend and I into their home with generosity for an evening as we drove across Canada. Their deep admiration and love for their son extended to anyone in his life - and I am so thankful that I had the opportunity to meet Giuseppe.

I have so much deep respect and love for the Stefanile family who live an honest life grounded by relationships to people. I am so sorry for the loss to the community, family, friends, and to my dear beloved friend Sal Pal.

Dear Sal and Carpinella,
Our condolences to you and your family. Giuseppe was always kind and generous towards our family. We had a very nice visit earlier this summer, where we were able to walk the orchard and enjoy some pizza. The girls had so much fun picking apples and Joe wouldn't let us leave without giving us some seeds to plant in our garden at our new home. We will plant them in his honor this coming spring and we will forever have a reminder of his kindness and generosity.

The news of Joe's loss is heartbreaking. We've always enjoyed the stories about him that Mersiha would share. Please know that we are thinking of you, and that there is boundless love being offered for your family in Vancouver.
