Obituary for Mr. Rheal "Bill" Pilon

Mr. Rheal “Bill” Pilon, age 89 years, passed away peacefully on Tuesday, March 5, 2019 at Health Sciences North, Sudbury.

Bill was born in Hearst, Ontario on December 9, 1929 to Mathilda and Joseph Pilon. He was raised and lived in Thunder Bay for most of his life. As a young man, he joined the army and served in Korea. Bill and Ann raised their family together until her passing in 1992. Bill was a general foreman for the City of Thunder Bay for 35 years. His favourite hobby was building furniture, he built many cedar chests for family and friends. Bill was generous and would help everyone at any time. He also loved to hunt and fish.

Bill and Helene (nee Carriere) first met in 1948 and were childhood sweethearts. They reconnected in 1985, and were married in 1998, moving to Lively, Ontario where they spent their retirement together.

Bill is survived by his wife, Helene; children Mark (Suzie) and Anna; granddaughter Alice-Ann and great grandfather to Rhéal and Julie. Also survived by his siblings, Sherry, Theresa, Cecile and Charmaine as well as nieces, nephews and extended family.

Predeceased by loving wife, Ann; his parents, and siblings Jean, Yvonne, Roch and Paul.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, June 18, 2019 at 10:00am in the EVEREST FUENRAL CHAPEL, 299 Waverley Street at Algoma with Fr. Victor DeGagne officiating. Interment will follow in St. Andrew's Cemetery.
