Obituary for Mrs. Constance "Connie" Helen Sambray (Crabbe)

Constance Helen Sambray
April 28, 1938 – March 28, 2021

The sun broke through the skies today, and in our hearts we knew it was
Dad's arms wrapping around Mom in a welcoming embrace.
Together again as they were always meant to be.

Mrs. Constance “Connie” Helen Sambray (nee Crabbe), age 82 years, passed away peacefully on Sunday, March 28, 2021 in Southbridge Pinewood.

Connie was born on April 28, 1938 and raised in Fort William. Together, with her husband Gary and family, she owned and operated Sambrays Services on May Street, and then Sambrays Neebing Services on Rosslyn Road for many years. Later, Connie opened her store, Sambrays Variety on Gore Street. Afterwards, she worked at Kmart Cafeteria, followed by Zellers Skillet Restaurant. Connie was a true business woman, and especially, a loving wife and mother. She will be deeply missed by all of her family and friends.

Connie is survived by her sons Gary Jr. (Bonnie) and Mark (Patricia); 7 grandchildren, 14 great-grandchildren and 1 great-great-grandson as well as her sister Edie Jenkins. Numerous nieces, nephews and other relatives also survive.

She was predeceased by her beloved husband, Gary Sr.; her parents Matthew and Josephine Crabbe; in-laws John and Gladys Sambray; sisters Pauline Freamo and Maxine Otway.

We would like to thank the wonderful caring staff at Southbridge Pinewood for Mom's care over the last couple of years. You are truly heroes.

In accordance with Connie's wishes, cremation has taken place and a private family interment service will be held in Mountainview Cemetery at a later date. Should friends so desire, memorial donations to the Alzheimer Society would be greatly appreciated.

Arrangements have been entrusted to Westfort Chapel, 420 West Gore Street at James.

The world changes from year to year. Our lives from day to day.
But the love and memory of you shall never pass away.
