Vera Schaefer, age 90, passed away November 10, 2022.
Vera grew up in Fort William (Westfort) with her parents Anna and Nicholas and her five siblings – Harold, Irene, Luba, Nadine, and Annette. After graduating from Selkirk High School she married Lorne Schaefer in 1954 and their son David was born a year later. Vera was a proud grandmother to her grandchildren Kyle and Laura. She was so proud of their accomplishments. Vera was a lady who always dressed fashionably and took pride in looking her best. She enjoyed travelling with Lorne throughout Canada and the United States. She especially enjoyed Hawaii. Vera and Lorne were members of Calvary Lutheran Church. Vera remained living in her family home until her recent passing.
Vera is predeceased by her husband Lorne, her son David, sister Irene (Stan), brother Harold (Marian), and nephews Jackie and Rickie. Vera is survived by her grandson Kyle (Erica) and their son Leo, her granddaughter Laura, and their mother Wendy, her sisters Luba LeMarbe (Lorne), Nadine Giardetti (Peter), Annette Durica, and her brother-in-law Alvin Schaefer (Elsie), and numerous nieces and nephews.
A Celebration of Life will take place on Wednesday, November 23 at Calvary Lutheran Church, 2820 East Donald Street at 1:00 pm.
